Paintings of Hindu Gods

These are the next 3 paintings in the series of paintings of Hindu Gods that I am currently doing.

Lord Shiva
Shiva resembles 'Tapa' (Penance). I am happy with the final result I have been able to create. The tiger skin was a very interesting feature to paint and it included the use of a variety of brushes, some of which I had to design myself. I opted to let the eyes be closed. The 'Naja' (cobra snake) and the 'Third eye of Shankar' are other interesting features I wanted to work more upon, but due to time constraints, I could come up with as much as I have.

Lord Brahma
I am proud that I could bring such realistic image into the painting within 2 days. The background seems to have merged so well with the deity and also the color combination of the attire and ornaments seems to have worked out well. In the series of paintings I am doing, I would rate this as the best so far.

Hidu God: Brahma

Devi Lakshmi
Devi Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. Ofcourse, there had to be lot of wealth and opulence in the image. Most of the images/paintings of Goddess Lakshmi are pretty similar and I wanted to come up with a different one, especially the face.

Raj: A 2D character

I was in search of an interesting Facebook profile picture and more importantly a logo/icon for my portfolio.

Yes, it has been inspired from the character from Hum Tum, but as every artist-singer-director-actor would put it - It's only the inspiration that  have taken from that character ;)

Presently I am doing this project of images of Hindu God's and deities, those thoughts were also running on the back of my mind and I ended up putting a Gopi-Tilak on the forehead.

Then when it was completed, I started thinking of a name; It's me ... So let's call it Raj ;-)

Saraswati Devi

This is the 2nd painting in the series of 17 paintings I am doing for a client.

I feel blessed to have this opportunity to create the Gods. The image of Saraswati Devi was indeed a bliss to work with. It always had to be a white Saree with a beautiful red border. Also I knew that the centre of attraction for the image would be the Veena, the musical instrument that Sharada Devi has in her hands.

Again, a word about the background. I am again happy that all the things I have added to the background have merged so well.

The Goddess of knowledge and art has indeed helped me in doing this image.

Gopala

This is my latest creation.

This has been done for a client who wants to publish a book on Bhaktiyoga. The client wanted an image of Gopala. Gopala is that version of Krishna who grazed cows. I had plans of sketching the painting and then compsing it in Photoshop, but could not do so because of the tight deadlines.

I am happy about the way I have been able to compose the background tree.

It has been mostly brushes, filters and a lot of other tools.
